| （1.Department of Physical Education，Southwest University of Science and Technology，Mianyang 621010，China；2.Mianyang Olympic Sports School，Mianyang 621000，China） Abstract: The cultivation of fundamental sports backup talents in China is facing such a situation as difficult stu-dent recruitment and graduate employment. The authors put forward such a mode of cultivation of sports backup talents as “deployment at middle school, centralization at high school, conjunction at college” and tested it in prac-tice. The result indicated the followings: this strategy is feasible and quite effective; deployment at middle school expanded the sources of backup talent; centralization at high school integrated resources, realized advantage com-plementation, enhanced talent cultivation; conjunction at college solved the problem that trained students who failed to enter into a high performance professional team have difficulty going to college, and resolved the conflict be-tween the low success rate and high elimination rate of competitive sports talents.
