(School of Physical Education,Luoyang Normal University,Luoyang 471022,China) Abstract: The promotion of the construction of the central plains economic region to a national strategy has brought opportunities to the development of sports in rural communities. The authors selected 6 new rural communities al-ready built, investigated and studies them from such aspects as current ground facilities, human resources and man-agement, sports activities etc, and revealed the following findings: ground facilities, national fitness pathways and sports activity centers were planned and built in all new rural communities in the central plains economic region; the sports awareness of the residents was somewhat enhanced, the contents of sports activities they participated in tended to become urbanized, more residents living in these communities participated in social sports activities than residents living in natural villages; however, a new sports management system had not be completely established, traditional sports culture protection was insufficient. The authors put forward the following suggestions for devel-oping sports in new rural communities: practically implement national sports policies; strengthen the scientific con-figuration of sports facilities; perfect the management mechanism; value traditional sports culture protection etc. Key words: social sports;central plains economic region;new rural community |
