(College of Physical Education, South China Normal University, Guangzhou 510631,China) Abstract: In past years, the effect of rhythmic gymnastics is growing small in physical education teaching in universities, whereas the effect of aerobics is becoming big. This article makes a comparative analysis of these two sports in terms of their characteristics and teaching organizing. Except these two sports share common at most aspects, they are different in action, exercise value, teaching form and external demand. And rhythmic gymnastics teaching in university hadn’t been reformed according to such discrepancies. Thus, these difference result in the fact that rhythmic gymnastics teaching gradually withdraws from the physical education teaching in university. The author suggest to reform the rhythmic gymnastics teaching, making full use of the success of the aerobics developing based on keeping the traits of rhythmic gymnastics.
