(College of Physical Education,Jilin University,Changchun 130012,China) Abstract: The authors thought about the phenomenon that the science of scholastic physical education is being weakened in the curriculum structure of physical education teaching specialty, and considered that such a phe-nomenon is related to the following factors: As to the science of scholastic physical education, its study object is vague and overlapped with that of pedagogy, its subject is ambiguously orientated and not normatively defined, its study scope is less systematic, its subject name does not correspond to its study scope, and its essential functions are not clearly specified, and are considered to be equivalent to sports essential functions. Therefore, the said issues must be probed into thoroughly for the science of scholastic physical education to be further developed.
