Abstract: By investigating the principals of track and field teams in 25 institutes of higher learning, the authors studied and analyzed the information regarding student recruitment, fund, contradiction between learning and train-ing, relationship with professional teams, coach and logistic support, and revealed the following findings: Track and field teams in institutes of higher learning in China should get rid of the routine practice of recruiting retired profes-sion team members, strengthen their cooperation with profession sports systems in terms of backup talent cultiva-tion, fund input and coach hiring, resolve contradiction between learning and training via flexible credit system, perfect college competition system, and establish full-time coaches when possible, and should not cause the spe-cialization of college athletes in terms of logistic support.
