College of Physical Education,South China Normal University,Guangzhou 510631,China;4.Jilin Institute of Physical Education,Changchun 132032,China) Abstract: The authors investigated the current state of athletes in representative cities and provinces in China par-ticipating in injuring insurance, and revealed the following findings: Only 32.2% of athletes in China had partici-pated in the insurance; the proportion of athletes who had participated in the insurance was relatively large in economy developed areas and part of big provinces of sport; more front line athletes (76.1%) had participated in the insurance, while the proportions of second line and third line athletes who had participated in the insurance were less than 1/2, 40.7% and 21.5% respectively; there was no difference between the athletes in big provinces of sport in economy developed areas and those in economy underdeveloped areas in terms of the types of insurance partici-pated, which were limited to limited types of insurance such as medical insurance, injury relief insurance, accidental injury insurance, labor insurance and free will commercial insurance.
