At present, there are different understandings of nationwide system in the academic community. On the basis of their comments on “A suggestion on stopping the wording of ‘nationwide system’”, the authors contemplated such views on nationwide system as the planning system view, holistic sports view, competi-tive sports view, commonweal sports view and key project view, and put forward the following opinions: nationwide system is an extraordinary strategy for non-equilibrium development that is activated under an emergency condition; the purpose of its activation is to effectively deal with national welfare and civilian livelihood related major issues such as natural disasters, national defense, and major projects of development of the nation; nationwide system has such characteristics as important, pressing, temporary, huge consumption of resources, and having the value of self-identity; nationwide system as a mode of resource integration becomes nationwide sports system only when it is applied to the sports area.
