(Department of Physical Education,Peking University,Beijing 100871,China) Abstract: By using the full text Chinese periodical database retrieval system as the tool and “organization” as the retrieval mode, the author retrieved all literatures with the title word “physical education”, dated between January 2000 and December 2006, and written by authors in the top 20 universities in China, performed a statistical analysis on the distribution of authors of core physical education literatures and the distribution of disciplines of non physical education majoring authors, and revealed the following findings: in the topping universities listed in terms of physi-cal education literatures published by core journals, non physical education majoring authors had an important indi-vidual contribution to the total quantity of physical education theme literatures, but there was a lack of cooperation between non physical education majoring authors and physical education majoring authors; the number of level 2 subjects involved with by non physical education majoring authors in physical education theme researches in the interdisciplinary area was more than that of level 2 physical education subjects. The author suggested that physical education staff in comprehensive universities should fully understand and utilize the disciplinary, resource and talent advantages of their own university to carry out strategic area deployment and detailed planning of interdisciplinary researches on physical education and other subjects.
