(Department of Physical Education,Nanyang Institute of Technology,Nanyang 473004,China) Abstract: The author studied the differences in the setup of college physical education administration between China and the United States in order to provide a reference for the reform of college physical education administra-tion in China. These differences are mainly embodied in three aspects: 1)usually one or two dedicated college physical education administrations are set up in US universities, while one or none of such administrations is set up in China; 2)in US universities, branch departments are usually set up for college physical education administrations according to administrative functions and based on various big sports centers, while in China they are set up ac-cording to administrative functions and based on big sports centers, or based on sports events and according to ad-ministrative functions, or mainly according to administrative functions; 3)branch departments subordinate to US college physical education administrations include such branch departments as sports legislation, information com-munication, network technology, market operation, college athlete service, kinetic injury treatment and rehabilita-tion, while branch departments subordinate to Chinese college physical education administrations do not include similar branch departments. The enlightenments derived from these differences are as follows: in China, branch de-partments of college physical education administrations should be set up according to administrative functions and based on big sports centers; two dedicated college physical education administrations should be set up; branch de-partments such as sports legislation, information communication, network technology and market operation should be added to Chinese college physical education administrations.
