(College of Physical Education and Health,East China Normal University,Shanghai 200062,China) Abstract: By investigating and comparing the setup of specialized physical education curriculum by institutes of higher learning in China and Japan, the authors set forth such preliminary opinions as completing the legal intension of the education of physical education teachers in China, establishing a “twin major” (educational subject and sports subject equally valued) characterized common framework for the curriculum standard for physical education teach-ers (in which the credits of common cultural courses are 20% of the total credits, the credits of educational courses are 40% of the total credits, and the credits of sports courses are 20% of the total credits), paying attention to the construction of such courses as health education and technical skills, focusing on “standardization” and “diversifica-tion” blended development, and returning to physical education teaching practice.
