| （1.College of Physical Education，Shaoguan Institute，Shaoguan 512005，China；2.Department of Physical Education，Hunan City Institute，Yiyang 413000，China） Abstract: The authors analyzed the development of quantitative research methods in the study of sport science as well as deficiency existing therein, then probed into the differences between qualitative and quantitative and re-searches in terms of philosophical foundation, research mode and data collecting method, and suggested that for sport as a complex science, we should break the restriction of dualistically opposite thinking mode for quantitative and qualitative researches, and integrate multiple research forms.
