The reform of Olympics in the 20th century is in general divided into two types, namely, progressive reform and aggressive reform, in which aggressive reform is an emergency measure taken in an unusual period, while progressive reform shows significant effects. Moderate reform and progressive reform are still the mainstream of reform. The authors put forward and demon-strated the direction and basic contents of the reform of Olympics in the early 21st century: to reform in order to re-alize Olympic spirit; to continue to reform for “slimming” Olympics; to deepen the reform of Olympic management and to reform specifically for handling potential crises.
