Abstract: Time and space are two importance factors in basketball rules. In the process of development of the bas-ketball game, the offense time becomes shorter and shorter, while the space utilized becomes larger and larger. The optimization of time and space has constantly boosted the enhancement of the performance and enjoyable nature of the basketball game. Such four basic tactics in modern basketball game as fast break, player to player defense, pres-surizing maneuver and regional joint defense are especially particular about the utilization of time and space, and flexibly applied according to specific circumstances.
