| (Department of Physical Education，Shenzhen Polytechnic，Shenzhen 518055，China) Abstract: The author dissected the relation between man and arrow by means of Chinese ethical ideology and tradi-tional philosophy. Archery contains such philosophies as unconscious “act absent acts”, “skill absent skills” and “technique absent techniques”, which can cultivate such dialectic capacities of human beings as being perceptive, being selfless, being moderate and being exceeding. Archery is not only a valorous sports means, but also a tradi-tional sports culture that is provided with the functions of humanistic education and closely related to the folk cul-ture, ethical ideology and traditional philosophy of the ancient Chinese society as well as human thinking manners. Philosophies contained in archery can provide a reference for enhancing the performance of archery in China.
