The authors also put forward the following opinions: the pattern of physical activities attached to a religious form cannot be considered as the common origin of Chinese and west-ern sports cultures; it is not appropriate to make a comparative study of Chinese and western sports cultures by ap-plying the “form comparison method” set forth by Spengler; the differences between Chinese and western sports cultures exist objectively. It is conducive to the protection and development of traditional Chinese sport to identify and admit the differences between Chinese and western sports cultures.
