| （School of Physical Education，Soochow University，Suzhou 215021，China） Abstract: By applying relevant theories such as folklore and study of nations, the authors dissected the concept of civilian sport, national sport, traditional sport and folk sport, and considered that their relation should be as follows: folk sport is a concept with a broad intention and extension, including national sport; national sport is divided into traditional sport and non traditional sport; folk sport is a branch of traditional sport, an important constituent part of traditional sport.
