(Department of Physical Education,Hunan City University,Yiyang 413000,China) Abstract: The author investigated and analyzed the recognition and evaluation of mental health education in the curriculum standard by teachers in 220 elementary and middle compulsory education schools in 13 regions and cit-ies in Hunan province, including teachers’ understanding of specialized knowledge of mental health education, sense of difficulty in fulfilling mental health education tasks, sense of self pressure, and degree of competence, and put forward the following opinions: physical education teachers have a high degree of recognition of the scientificity of the “Health First” conception; a great majority of physical education teachers can recognize that teachers must have high professional capacities, feeling task difficulty and high self pressure, and giving a low degree of compe-tence to others; most teachers considered that the effect of current implementation of mental health education in the Curriculum Standard is not quite ideal, being still used to the way of providing reference teaching materials and suggestions by departments in charge and the theory community; new requirements have been set fort for physical education psychology taught by college teachers. The author put forward the following measures: strengthen the updating of conceptions of physical education teachers; intensify the interpretation of the Curriculum Standard; strengthen the training and examination of specialized knowledge and skills; establish a scientific evaluation mechanism; comprehensively implementing the transformation period of the Curriculum Standard together with the theory community can provide physical education teachers with different types of teaching materials and methods used under different conditions; for the cultivation of education professionals, college teachers should pay more at-tention to combining theory with practice, and cultivating students’ ability to solve actual problems.
