(1.School of physical Education,South China University of Technology,Guangzhou 510641,China;2.Hebei Institute of Physical Education,Shijiazhuang 050041,China) Abstract: Having studied the characteristics of techniques applied by Bore in major world competitions between 2004 and 2006, the authors revealed the following findings: 1) Bore’s ball serving attack scoring rate was high; the balls he served were mainly downward rotating balls, sideward downward rotating balls and reverse sideward downward rotating balls, but his downward rotating serving balls have been reduced somewhat, while his sideward downward rotating surviving balls have been increased somewhat; his tactics were mainly to serve a right-hand re-verse sideward downward rotating short ball to his opponent’s right-hand or middle, coupled with a forestall attack after serving an intense reverse sideward downward rotating long ball to either corner or a sideways forestall attack after serving a right-hand sideward downward rotating long or short ball; 2) Bore’s served ball receiving attack scoring rate was triple excellent; his ability to apply techniques and tactics for scoring in the served ball receiving attack stage was good; mostly he used right-hand to receive a served ball; his tactics were mainly a quick twist at the ball plus a short ball dropped near the net, coupled with twisting a long ball to either corner or spinning a sideward downward rotating ball to his opponent’s right-hand at a wide angle, and then reservedly pulling the ball or dropping a short ball for a chance for pulling attack; 3) Bore’s right-hand short balls were relatively weak, but he could handle defense and offense switching well after he had received the ball (the fourth touch); Bore was advantageous in the deadlock stage, no matter in terms of using rate or in terms of scoring rate; 4) Bore’s right-hand attacks were mostly forward rushing balls, rotation intensified arc balls and near table quick pulling balls, such balls mostly dropped at his opponent’s backhand, but the percentage of the use of such balls has been reduced year by year; his sideways balls were mostly forward rushing arc balls, most of which dropped at his opponent’s backhand, while his rotation intensified arc balls mostly dropped at his opponent’s right-hand, his sideways attacking technique showed a wavy fluctuation; the rate of his use of backhand quick arc balls was increased somewhat; 5) Bore’s using and scoring rates of the technique to hit the ball to either corner for a chance for forward rushing or a smash on a knife grip player showed a wavy fluctuation, his scoring rate was up to 70% in 2006, his using rate of the technique to launch a pulling attack by twisting combined long and short balls was sharply increased to 17% in 2006, and his scoring rate was up to 63%.
