(School of Sport and Health Care,East China Normal University,Shanghai 200062,China) Abstract: Physical education curriculum content standards describe the results of learning in various areas in the physical education curriculum in such five aspects as sports participation, sport skill, physical health, mental health and social adaptation. Based on curriculum objective classification theories, the author established an analysis framework to understand physical education curriculum content standards in such six aspects as “showing the abil-ity of move skills and motion modes required to fulfill various sports activities”, “acquiring and applying cognitive knowledge of sports and health and proving the understanding of such knowledge”, “participating in sports activities regularly”, “reaching and maintaining a health promoting level of physical stamina”, “respecting oneself and others and showing responsible individual and social behaviors in sports activities”, and “understanding the value of sports activities for health, entertainment, challenge, self expression and social communication”, and to provide the stan-dard based physical curriculum with a tool to interpret curriculum standards, so as to hopefully guide current physi-cal education curriculum practice.
