摘      要：1906年1月，在新式教育快速发展，学校体育课程普遍开设，以及军国民教育思潮的影响下，两广学务处举办“广东省大运动会”，这是近代广东兴办新式教育后的第一次全省运动会，因其规模空前而成为近代广东体育发展史上的一大盛事，对当时广东省各级各类学校体育运动的开展，以及学生尚武精神的养成，均起到极大的促进作用。但由于裁判员素质不高，与参赛选手发生冲突，导致运动会半途夭折，反映了当时体育专业教育落后的现实。

Abstract: Influenced by the rapid development of new style education, the universally opening of scholastic physi-cal education curriculum, and the overwhelming thirst for military and civilian education, the Educational Affair Bureau of Guangdong and Guangxi held “Sports Games of Guangdong” in January 1906, which was the first pro-vincial sports games held after new style education was implemented in modern Guangdong, becoming a big event in the history of development of sport in modern Guangdong due to its unparalleled scale, playing a tremendous role in boosting the development of scholastic sports games at various levels in Guangdong at that time  and the buildup of student’s martial spirit. However, the Games were aborted due to low referee capacities and conflicts oc-curred between players, which reflects the reality of backward professional physical education at that time.
