Abstract: By analyzing Sports Sociology Program, a thesis written by Pierre Bourdieu, a sociologist in France, the author probed into relations of inheritance and retrospection between theories of sports sociology and structuralist sociology in France, reflections of sports sociology on specific social conditions, and new dimensions of study pro-vided by sports sociology. By combining the reality of study of sports sociology in China, the author retrospected the conceptual definition, study methods and study areas of sport.
