| （School of Physical Education，Nanjing Normal University，Nanjing 210097，China） Abstract: The theory of the science of competitive sport and the theory of the science of sports training are not theoretical issues at the same level. Traditional theory of the science of competitive sport covers such 4 disciplines as the science of potential athlete selection, science of sports training, science of sports competition, and science of competitive sports management; from the perspective of the completeness of the systematic structure of the theory of the science of competitive sport and the need for the development of the discipline of potential athlete selection, it is necessary to develop the “science of potential athlete selection” into the “science of sports selection”; the author put forward an orderly structure for the constitution of a new system of sports theories, which makes the objectives and tasks of dedicated competitive sports systems clearer, and specifies clear directions for specific operations of sports training jobs at various stages.
