| （School of Physical Education，Nanjing Normal University，Nanjing 210097，China） Abstract: The incident of LIU Xiang quitting the competition in Beijing Olympic Games generated a tremendous effect, and people in all walks of life gave various comments and thoughts to such an incident. Contemplating such an incident from the perspectives of LIU Xiang himself, the audience, the nation and the media enables us to per-ceive many profound contents and truths of the Olympic spirit, and to be enlightened. From the perspective of LIU Xiang himself, he had made a difficult decision in order to protect his career life; from the perspective of the psy-chology of the audience, the psychology of the Chinese people is ever increasingly mature; from the perspective of the nation, what China got from Beijing Olympic Games are not only gold medals, but also the mature psychology of the Chinese people and their deeper understanding of the Olympic spirit; from the perspective of the media, the media should restore the LIU Xiang miracle to life value, and guide media comments; from the perspective of sports science, more attention should be paid to athlete’s physical health, and to scientific researches on sports.
