| （School of Physical Education，Northwest Normal University，Lanzhou 730070，China） Abstract: Several controversial issues about sports training theories are the focal points of current study. Via dis-criminative analysis, the author put forward the following opinions: it is impossible for human understanding to build an objective actual structure; the rationality of training theories is a sort of “limited rationality”, thus disputes will occur naturally, while the rationality of practice is the only training behavior rule provided with the legislative power; in the process of practice, the defects of the theories themselves and dilemmas in practice are the recessive and dominant causes for the occurrence of disputes, and the only way to settle disputes is theoretical innovation.
