| （School of Physical Education，Shandong University of Technology，Zibo 255049，China） Abstract: Kick-ball game originated in the ancient Qi state (today’s Linzi) in China. As an ancient technique, the “kicking technique” and “ball playing technique” existed as early as in the HUANG Di age; in the Han dynasty, fe-male kick-ball game was development into a sort of entertainment for nobles; ice kick-ball game was the most prosperous in the Qing dynasty. Kick-ball game had its unique way of development from occurrence to develop-ment, maturity and decline. For the international communication of kick-ball game culture, there were mainly three routes, namely, the east route, west route and south route. There were political, economic, cultural, social and psy-chological reasons for the failure of ancient Chinese kick-ball game to develop into modern football. Today, in the international academic community there are mainly three theories about the origin of football, namely, the England theory, Habastom Persia theory, and Linzi China theory.
