(1.School of Physical Education and Health,East China Normal University,Shanghai 200241,China;2.Department of Physical Education,Yangzhou College of Science and Technology,Yangzhou 225009,China) Abstract: Based on the self decision theory, the authors examined the relations between student’s sense of inde-pendent support and behavior adjustment and their will for extracurricular exercising. By using a measurement form, the authors tested 242 female junior high school students, and revealed the following findings: creating a physical education class atmosphere of independent support is provided with a significant meaning; the sense of in-dependent support can boost the development of independent motives (intrinsic motive and recognition adjustment), thus promoting student’s will for extracurricular exercising.
