| （1.School of Physical Educaltion，Chongqing Normal University，Chongqing 400047，China；2.Olympic Research Center，Beijing Sport University，Beijing 100084，China） Abstract: Based on the target orientation of “fighting for national glory”, the guidance ideology of “developing ex-ceedingly”, the idea of development guided by the government and assisted by the society, and the working guide-line of “highlighting key jobs and promoting common jobs”, competitive sports in China has successively gone through several stages of modes such as “combining popularization with enhancement”, “shortening the battle line and ensuring key developments”, “exceeding moderately”, and “centralized twin track”. According to the require-ments for the competitive sports development practice and social reform in China, the choices for competitive sports development modes and the keys to reform in the future should be target task diversification, organization mode synthesis, resource integration diversification, and running mode marketization.
