| （Departmen of Physical Education，Guangdong University of Foreign Studies，Guangzhou 510420，China） Abstract: Taijiquan is famous for its “sagacious boxing” and “cultural boxing”. In the process of its formation Tai-jiquan was affected by traditional Chinese protocol culture, and in every move, showing such protocol cultural characteristics as courtesy prioritized, ethic standardized, respect considered and friendship valued, and highlighting humanistic spirits, national makings, national psychology and national emotions. Taijiquan has gone through a course of development from vulgar to elegant, and from coarse to refined, the intrinsic reason for which is the change of social cultural backgrounds, while the extrinsic reason for which is the inevitable result of the develop-ment of the protocol culture of Taijiquan.
