School of Physical Education，Central China Normal University，Wuhan 430079，China） Abstract: Guided by the people orientated scientific development view, and based on the perspective that sport should serve the public, the authors thought that the cancellation of the National Games would meet the require-ments of governmental function transformation, service type government construction, and sport system reform, and enable the sport department of governments at all levels to have the enthusiasm and power to service the people, thus meeting the fundamental interests of the vast majority.
