Abstract: From the perspective of pedagogy, the author gave an overview of the current state of the study of educa-tion for physical education teachers at home and abroad, analyzed the value and significance of constructing “stan-dard based” education for physical education teachers, and put forward the following opinions: standards for the qualification of physical education teachers should be a serial standard system including different stages such as preliminarily qualified teacher, qualified teacher, senior teacher, and expert teacher; in the future the study in this area should be orientated for the construction of a standard for the career qualification of preliminarily qualified physical education teachers; the study of standards for the qualification of physical education teachers is a system-atic dissection of the professional makings of physical education teachers, and such a study itself is a sort of theo-retical innovation; the construction of standards for the qualification of physical education teachers is conducive to guiding the education for physical education teachers, establishing corresponding courses, strictly controlling the threshold for career entrance, thus standardizing the professional development of all physical education teachers.
