(Department of Physical Education,Zhoukou Normal Univerity,Zhoukou 466001,China) Abstract: The author sorted out major problems existing in the reform of the new physical education curriculum in ba-sic education in China over the last 10 years and put forward his expectations. The reform of the new physical educa-tion curriculum in basic education in China changed significantly in terms of objective, content and organization form. The problems include the followings: the objectives for physical education teaching were too comprehensive and not specific enough; some new teaching modes were introduced but such introduction was not thorough enough; there were too many and too diversified physical education contents to choose from and there were signs of chaos in teaching or-ganization. The author expected that in the process of implementation the newly revised physical education curriculum will be interpreted in a thorough, comprehensive and specific way, and actively probed into under such preconditions as enhancing understanding, strengthening management and connecting theories to reality.
