| (Department of Physical Education,Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Wuhan 430074,China) Abstract: Copyright is an important constitutional part of intellectual property right and a branch in law. The copyright law currently in effect in China has defined the scope of protection and listed some restrictive provisions. The expressing forms of intellectual achievements in sports area present are varied,some of which can become the object of copyright protection while the others cannot. How this problem being solved represents the level of protection of intellectual property right in sports area in China. The author considered that sports competition events and the techniques and tactics employed in sports competition were not suitable for copyright protection,and that what the copyright protects was the expressing form of an intellectual achievement,namely,the works,but not the contents.
