| （School of Physical Education，South China Normal University，Guangzhou 510006，China） Abstract: Via argumentation the author put forward the following opinions: urbanization has liberated people’s lei-sure sports life and boosted women’s social status; the changes of sports systems and gender order are two founda-tion stones for the rising of women’s leisure sports. Specifically, urbanization has created such key elements as pol-icy, value concept, system and space for women’s leisure sports; during interaction these key elements have formed comprehensive driving forces for the development of women’s leisure sports, and enabled its development towards the directions of spontaneous, diversified, multidimensional, commercialized, (voluntary) organized development. However, there are still policy related, institutional, cultural and social limitations for its further development. In order to transcend such limitations, a network support system needs to be established.
