| （Department of Foundation，Guangdong Food and Drug Vocational College，Guangzhou 510520，China） Abstract: Group calisthenics is a comprehensive collective performance event in which sport is highly combined with art, during such a performance, multiple forms of expression are adopted to combine sport with such elements as art, culture and high technology etc, so as to uplift the connotation of group callisthenic performance. “Op art” is an important art school since the 20th century, producing profound influence on artworks and forms of expression, referred to and adopted in the opening performance of major sports games in China. Therefore, understanding the forms of expression of “op art” can help the audience to better appreciate the performance of the opening ceremo-nies of sports games, to understand local folk customs and regional cultures, and to apprehend their ideological connotations, also help sports game opening ceremony designers master more artistic forms, learn needed knowl-edge from them, find out more artistic forms and combine them with group calisthenics, thus carry out work crea-tion better.
