(1.School of Physical Education,South China Normal Univercity,Guangzhou 510006,China;2.School of Physical Education,Weifang Univercity,Weifang 261061,China) Abstract: By means of literature data retrieval and analysis, the author studied the Wushu unification movement launched in the Republic of China period, and put forward the following opinions: the needs for school Wushu and Wushu scientification as well as sectarianism’s restrictions on the development of Wushu had promoted the devel-opment of the Wushu unification movement led by the Central Wushu Museum; the Wushu unification movement tried to guide the development of Wushu by unifying Wushu textbooks, finalizing Wushu designations, bridging sectarian differences and establishing communication between Wushu and sport; although this movement did not achieve an ideal effect, it played the role of a wind vane in the development of Wushu, and led Wushu to develop in the directions of standardization, scientification and popularization.
