(1.School of Physical Education,South China University of Technology,Guangzhou 510640,China;2.Office of Academic Affairs,Guangzhou Sport University,Guangzhou 510500,China) Abstract: The authors studied the body gravity center speed and the shot-put speed produced by athletes applying swiveling technique at the final stage of power explosion in the men’s shot-put final of the 18th Asian Track and Field Championships, and revealed the following findings: at the acceleration preparation stage, the resultant speed of the body gravity center produced by athletes applying swiveling technique after their left foot was landed was greater than the resultant speed of the shot-put, which is conducive to forming a whipping action which bases it starting point on the body gravity center; the vertical speed of the body gravity center was a negative value, which means that there was a process of gravity center descending; at the acceleration stage, the vertical speed and hori-zontal speed of the shot-put was negatively correlative with the resultant speed; at the final stage of power explo-sion, the peak horizontal speed of the shot-put was positively correlative with the peak resultant speed of the shot-put, therefore it was significantly correlative with the competition result.
