2.School of Physical Education，Qujing Normal University，Qujing 655011，China）Abstract: The authors analyzed the connotations and characteristics of the protocol culture of traditional national sports competitions, and put forward the following opinions: protocol culture contains such a traditional virtue as mutual respect in traditional national sports competitions, embodies such a national fashion as “valuing harmony”, reflects such protocol charm of the Chinese nation as “peaceful coexistence”, highlights the moral essence of tradi-tional national sports competitions; competition protocol can not only standardize behaviors conducted in games and maintain venue orders, but also play an irreplaceable role in beautifying athlete images, perfecting athlete personali-ties, strengthen national unity, promoting national cohesion, and carrying forward national culture; inheriting and popularizing the protocol culture of traditional national sports competitions has important realistic significance in boosting the development of traditional national sports in China.
