Abstract: In the network era, sports news communication is characterized by highly time sensitive, high informa-tion capacity, multimedia comprehensive, interactive and entertaining. Media development has put forward new re-quirements for sports news headlines on newspapers: transformation from pursuing “readability” to pursuing “legi-bility” and “reading happiness”, and transformation from focusing on information communication to focusing on viewpoint communication. When newspapers reported news about LI Na’s 4 tennis grand slam tournaments in re-cent years, their headline phrasing showed 8 types of characteristics: headlines with a name, headlines with a buzz-word, headlines with a colloquial word, headlines with a quote, headlines with a punctuation, headlines with an imi-tative word, headlines with a flexibly used numeral and headlines with a cleverly used verb.
