(Department of Physical Education,Zengcheng College,South China Normal University,Guangzhou 511363,China) Abstract: Through an elective table tennis teaching experiment in which competition teaching was implemented as the primary mode throughout various stages divided according to the levels of students in elective table tennis classes 2010 and 2011 of Zengcheng College of South China Normal University, the authors found that applying teaching under competition teaching mode can effectively promote the subjectivity of teacher teaching and student learning, boost the development of students’ knowledge, skills and comprehensive abilities and the cultivation of their moral feelings, and significantly improve table tennis teaching effect.
