| （Department of Physical Education，Zhejiang Technology University，Hangzhou 310014，China) Abstract: The author contemplated the cultural transformation of traditional Wushu from 3 perspectives, and put forward the following opinions: the evolution of traditional Wushu from “cultural freeness” to “cultural conscious-ness”, from “daily life” to “non-daily life”, from “informal institution” to “formal institution”, is the true reflection of transition of the rural society in China; the fundamental cause for the decline of traditional Wushu is not the pre-vailing invasion of western sports, but the change of the Chinese rural context. The development of traditional Wushu in the future should still be based on “freeness” and reshaped in an active and conscious way; the “non-daily” development manner should rationally return to “daily” development; the intensity of support of “for-mal institution” of China for the development of the Wushu undertaking still needs to be strengthened.
