(Department of Physical Education,Lanzhou City University,Lanzhou 730070,China) Abstract: The authors made a case study of the implementation of the replacement training program for backbone physical education teachers in countryside in Gansu province in 2012, and revealed the following findings: the value orientation of training objectives highlighted social needs, failing to meet the need for rural physical education teacher development; task assignment inside the training management system was irrational, failing to form a resul-tant force; the training team had few experts from other provinces, and a low frontline teacher training capacity; training contents were rational, but training manner was traditional and low efficiency, the degree of student partici-pation was not high, training performance evaluation became a mere formality; post replacement intern management was chaotic, lacking in effective guidance.
