(School of Physical Education,Hubei University,Wuhan 430062,China) Abstract: The author analyzed and interpreted The State Council’s Opinions on Speeding up Developing the Sports Industry and Promoting Sports Consumption, expatiated on six opportunities faced by sports industry development in China via a lot of detailed data: policy support is an important driving force for sports industry development; both per capita production value and income increase–the critical point of sports consumption explosion has been reached; demographic dividend and urbanization process have expanded sports industry consumption scale; industrial structure adjustment and upgrade are catalysts for sports industry development; expanding internal needs has brought rare op-portunities for sports industry development; the emerging of experience economy has promoted sports industry devel-opment. The author also pointed out five challenges to face: effective demand and supply are insufficient, while main market entities are immature; mass sports development lags behind; the core layer of the sports industry is weak; there is a lack of professional operation management talents; specific implementation has a long way to go.
