| （School of Politics and Administration Institution，Liaoning Normal University，Dalian 116029，China) Abstract: Among oriental societies, Japan is a country that preserves and develops national culture better; the de-velopment of its traditional national sports is closely related to its national characteristics, i.e. the “no ego aware-ness” under collectivism is the mass foundation for the popularization and protection of traditional sports, the inclu-sive characteristic is the spiritual foundation for popularization, highlighting spiritual cultivation is its core driving force for modernization, the “close feeling view” and “honor view” make Japanese sports organizations spare no ef-fect to protect and popularize traditional national sports, and the native island country awareness provides the soil for the survival of traditional sports. Inspirations gotten therefrom include the effectiveness of system implementa-tion, the promotion and theorization of traditional sports spirit etc.
