(1.School of Physical Education and Training,Shanghai University of Sports,Shanghai 200438,China;2.Department of Physical Education,Hengyang Normal University,Hengyang 421002,China) Abstract: Based on literature sourced from the web of science database of international researches on physical education teacher education, the authors probed into the distribution characteristics, hot topics and frontiers of cur-rent international researches on physical education teacher education, and revealed the following findings: 99% of the research institutions engaging in the physical education teacher education area are colleges and universities, where author cooperation networks are quite dense, and relatively stable research teams have been formed; the hot topics of international researches on physical education teacher education mainly focus on physical education teacher cultivation methods and cultural qualities, knowledge which today’s physical education teachers should master, their understanding of students’ individual characteristics and development patterns, their creation of learn-ing environments according to student psychology, their development of developmental, appropriate education strategies and education modes according to national physical education teacher standards; research frontiers tend to carry out an in-depth analysis on students’ psychological characteristics, to primarily cultivate students’ practical knowledge and ensure the high quality accomplishment of physical education teacher education plans by effective classroom skill teaching and increasing student learning and practicing opportunities.
