| （Department of Physical Education，Shenzhen Polytechnic，Shenzhen 518055，China) Abstract: The authors probed into the changing and effecting factors of traditional sports culture of the Yao nation-ality in Lingnan, and put forward the following opinions: after the founding of China, traditional sports culture of the Yao nationality in Lingnan changed significantly: its entertaining functions were emphasized, while its other functions were weakened to different extents; the number of traditional sports events was decreasing, equipment for competitive events was more advanced, events in the ceremony category tended to entertaining and aesthetical changes. These changes had caused different reactions from all walks of life of the Yao nationality in Lingnan. Con-clusion: after the founding of China, the changing of traditional sports culture of the Yao nationality in Lingnan was in an initiatively changing condition, yet had shown the sign of “dissimilation”, some events had the trend of grad-ual disappearance; therefore, we should value the power of social training on the basis of protection, coupled with school education and tourism etc.
