| （1.School of Physical Education，Liaoning Normal University，Dalian 116029，China；2.School of Humanities and Law，Dalian University of Technology，Panjin 124221，China) Abstract: The authors analyzed advantages and difficulties in developing non-Olympic sports events in universities in China, concluded that developing non-Olympic sports events in universities have advantages in terms of culture, resource and policy etc, but also have difficulties such as indifference by universities, event structure unbalance and poor cognition by students etc, and put forward the following ways to develop non-Olympic sports events: change universities’ ideology by basing the goal on health; optimize teachers based on training; promote students’ sports experience by basing the carrier on competition.
