(School of Physical Education,Zhengzhou University,Zhengzhou 450044,China) Abstract: By retrieving information and data regarding professional cultivation by the sports tourism industry in developed foreign countries, and comparing them with the sports tourism professional cultivation mode of China, the author found that there were big differences in terms of major setup, major courses, teaching evaluation and em-ployment orientation etc; by means of difference analysis, the author found deficiencies in the sports tourism pro-fessional cultivation mode of China, e.g. major setup was not flexible enough, and was lacking in orientation to so-cial needs; curriculum setup was complete but not specialized; major characteristics were not prominent enough; during teaching the subject status of students was not ensured; there was a lack of employment platform building; and so on, which had consequentially resulted in the failure of sports tourism professional cultivation in China to nicely fit into market needs, and poor professional applicability. In order to improve such a current situation, a re-gional sports tourism professional cultivation mode based on social need orientation should be established.
