| （Department of Physical Education，Guangdong Institute of Science and Technology，Zhuhai 519090，China) Abstract: The author conducted an investigation into the setup number, major orientations and graduate employ-ment in relation to physical education majors in 9 higher vocational colleges in Guangdong, and revealed the fol-lowing findings; currently the structure of setup of physical education majors in higher vocational colleges in Guangdong are not closely related to regional economy; the designations of major orientations are chaotic, not standardized, not clearly attributed; the major matching employment rates are irregular, relatively low for traditional majors. The author proposed to intensify government macroscopic regulation, strengthen the setup of for-ward-looking physical education majors according to local economic characteristics, refine major catalogue, control strictly, communicate more, unify major connotations and extensions, solidify major connotations based on em-ployment, so as to promote benign major development.
