School of Physical Education and Health,East China Normal University,Shanghai 200241,China;2.Shanghai “Lide Shuren” Key Research Base of Humanity and Social Science,Shanghai 200241,China;3.School of Physical Education,Soochow University,Suzhou 215021,China) Abstract: The authors analyzed the American K-12 physical education curriculum content system, gave an over-view and analysis of its sports event curriculum contents, sports skill curriculum contents and sports moral educa-tion curriculum contents, and summarized its main characteristics as follows: emphasizing the progression and con-nection of sport skill curriculum contents based on sports makings building curriculum contents; valuing the per-meation and fusion of sports moral education curriculum contents; establishing a physical education curriculum content renewing mechanism and environment. China can build a physical education (in basic education) curricu-lum content system with Chinese features by referring to the United States’ beneficial experience in building a school physical education curriculum content system, coupled with the realistic need for deepening school physical education curriculum reform.
