| （Union，South China Normal University，Guangzhou 510631，China) Abstract: Promoting university staff’s physical and mental health and ensuring the staff’s right to health are basic functions of university labor union work; organizing and developing staff sports activities is the important embodi-ment of the union performing its service functions and promoting national fitness. Via investigation the author found that Guangdong University Labor Union Organization developed various sports activities, but lacked in innovation, had such major problems as unperfected organization construction, insufficient sports activity resources for the staff, the staff being not so enthusiastic about participating in sports activities, etc. In order to promote the development of university labor union sports work, efforts should be made in such aspects as perfecting organization construction, strengthening resource assurance, inspiring sports activity interest, improving information spreading and communi-cation channels, etc.
